    Abstract

This paper analyzes user participation and humanistic values in crowdfunding in Korea, focusing mainly on performativity. Crowdfunding is a process to simultaneously collect funds from unspecified individuals, mostly via storytelling, on a crowdfunding platform. In crowdfunding, ‘Others’, who have been unable to enter into the mainstream economy, appear as the starters of the crowdfunding project, and the subjects of the crowdfunding project are accordingly diversified. This process can be accomplished only through the active involvement of backers who donate money to the project. As a result of this interaction, crowdfunding users form a liminoid. The formation of the emotional community through crowdfunding platform provides an opportunity for young Koreans, called the generation of survivors, to create their own discourses.
